About Pride

Based on an incredible true story.

Following record-breaking sold-out runs at Cardiff's Sherman Theatre and London's National Theatre, Pride is the "magnificent joy-filled celebration of togetherness" (Guardian) moving to the Bridge Theatre from 12 November.

Welcome to 1984. The UK is in turmoil. With Thatcher waging war on the coal industry, and the AIDS crisis on the ride, 24-year-old activist Mark Ashton rallies a group of lesbian and gay campaiggners to form an unlikely alliance with striking miners in South Wales. Facing the opposition with their shared love of a laught and a good night out, they softer solidarity and hope - transforming both communities forever.

From the writer and the director of the original hit film, this "hilarious and heartbreaking, silly and serious" (Daily Mail) new musical is set to an original soundtrack of songs inspired by pop, rock, disco and the rich Welsh choral tradition.

Overlooking the Thames beside Tower Bridge, just five minutes from London Bridge station, Pride will be staged at the state-of-the-art, fully accessible Bridge Theatre, offering audiences an unforgettable experaince in a picturesque setting.

There has never been a better time for this "glorious spectacle" (Financial Times) to remind us of the suprising power of kindness.
