Another VU - A 60th Anniversary Tribute To The Velvet Underground & Nico

A decade before punk - before the world was ready - there was The Velvet Underground.
They didn't play it safe. They shattered conventions, creating raw, confrontational art that redefined rock & roll and laid the foundations for generations to come.

Another VU's tribute show recreates the legendary 'Exploding Plastic Inevitable' (EPI) - the groundbreaking events the Velvets created with Andy Warhol.
Warhol's artistic vision and original EPI lighting designer Danny Williams' electrical innovations were influential to the development of psychedelic light shows, and later disco, rave, and contemporary stage lighting.

Celebrating 60 years since the first true multimedia concerts, Another VU's production plunges audiences back into that immersive environment - you'll experience manually controlled strobes (operated in rhythm with the music), as well as coloured spot lamps, aimed at our custom-built reproduction of Warhol's antique mirror ball, creating orbiting polka dot reflections all around. Additionally, a liquid light show will produce psychedelic convection current visuals against the rear stage wall, alongside slide/moiré projections, and the sole digital element of the show, which is new Another VU film projections (replacing the original 16mm Warhol films of the Velvets). The result will be a mesmerising explosion of hypnotic, electrifying sound and kaleidoscopic imagery - just like the original, and now legendary EPI.

This special event also features guest vocalist Caroline Dawson performing the songs Nico sang with the band, on their debut album.

Come and blow your mind - experience the euphoria, and dance as if you've slipped straight back into 1966.
