Introduction to Ethnobotany at Chelsea Physic Garden

For thousands of years, people have turned to plants for food, medicine, shelter, and meaning. Ethnobotany is the study of these relationships between people and plants, exploring how cultures past and present connect with the natural world.

In this workshop at Chelsea Physic Garden, home to nearly 5000 plants, you will be introduced to the ideas and methods of ethnobotany.

Together, we’ll explore how human cultures have drawn on plant knowledge for survival, wellbeing, and inspiration and how these connections might help us reimagine our relationship with nature today.

No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and an interest in people, plants, and culture.
