Two of the most influential voices in British reggae, Janet Kay and Carroll Thompson, return to Boisdale Canary Wharf for a night of timeless Lovers Rock classics, following a series of sold-out shows. Carroll Thompson, one of the genre’s defining artists, crafted a signature blend of melancholic melodies and laid-back reggae rhythms. Her million-selling debut album remains a landmark in Lovers Rock, earning her a reputation as one of its most distinctive voices. Songs like "I’m So Sorry", "Hopelessly In Love" and "Yesterday" continue to be celebrated as genre-defining hits. Janet Kay broke barriers when "Silly Games" soared to No.1 in 1979, making her the first Black British female artist to top the UK charts. The track, produced by Dennis Bovell, became an anthem of the era and cemented her place in music history. Beyond her own hits, she has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, from Aswad and Sly & Robbie to Fatboy Slim, expanding her influence across genres. This performance brings together two pioneering artists whose songs remain as powerful today as they were at the height of the Lovers Rock movement. "Their warmth melts the crowd into a sea of smiling faces." — The Express Visit our Hine Bar and Heated Garden Terrace located on the 1st floor for pre & post-show drinks!
