More information about Omar tickets
The UK's greatest soul singer, Omar, returns to the Fox & Firkin to celebrate 40 years as an active recording artist as well as his 9th and most recent studio album, 'Brighter the Days'. Brighter the Days has been lauded to be Omar's most self-assured, well rounded, eclectic, and continues to highlight his trademark vocals & songwriting. His unique, instantly identifiable voice always results in nothing but memorable music. Often tagged 'neo soul' or even 'acid jazz' - the truth is Omar is his own one-man genre, as this latest album attests. With worldwide appeal spanning multiple generations Omar has worked with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Lamont Dozier, the late Angie Stone, Leon Ware, Robert Glasper and Erykah Badu just to name a few.
Who better to DJ on the night then Femi Fem?
Femi Fem, began his journey in London's underground music scene during the 1980s, co-founding the legendary Family Funktion and Shake & Fingerpop warehouse parties. These pioneering events helped ignite the rare groove and acid jazz movements that reshaped UK club culture. As a DJ, Femi has brought his soulful, eclectic sound to events for Prince, Janet Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Stella McCartney, Jade Jagger, Gucci, with trips to Australia Japan & Hong Kong. His flair for blending music and fashion has seen him create bespoke catwalk soundtracks for designers such as Ozwald Boateng, Katharine Hamnett, Julien Macdonald, Bella Freud, and Groove Odyssey. He also founded the iconic, MOBO Award-winning club night Rotation at London's Subterranea - a touchstone for the city's soulful nightlife.
To put it simply, this is certainly not a show you want to miss.
A unique and original voice, accompanied with musicianship and song-writing talent, establish Omar as a true pioneer in British soul. A precursor to the neo-soul and acid jazz movements, he outlasted the peak of these tags to continue to deliver his own inimitable brand of soul music.
Deep baritone vocals combine with multi-instrumental productions to create beautiful, soulful music that's inspired collaborations with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Leon Ware, Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, and Estelle.
Omar received an MBE in 2012 for services to the British Music Industry. The father of neo-soul has a career spanning over 3 decades, garnering wide respect within the worlds of soul, jazz, funk and R&B.
