This October, Earth Cruises presents Sunstepping, a two-day festival and fundraiser bringing together music, political speakers, and workshops. 100% of profit raised will be donated directly to the vital work of Hackney Migrant Centre.
In recent months we have witnessed an alarming surge in anti-migrant and anti-refugee rhetoric, fueled by powerful far-right figures as a scapegoat for income inequality, rising costs and failing public services. Now more than ever it is vital for us to unify and say: enough. We will not be deceived. We will not be divided. We will hold power accountable. And we will envision a better future. Over the weekend, speakers, artists and activists will come together to ask urgent questions: and And because resistance needs joy, the weekend’s politics are grounded in music, art and community. The stage will host artists whose sounds echo resilience, creativity and diasporic richness: Sun 26 Oct — Elaha Soroor & Hazara Music, Tawiah, Rosie Frater-Taylor, Miryam Solomon, Marysia Osu & YUIS Meanwhile, there will be space to showcase solidarity, with grassroots communities and organisations such as the Migration Museum, Refugee Community Kitchen, and Community Arts Box (more to be announced) coming together to set up stalls and workshops.
