The Christians came out of Liverpool with something sharper than ordinary pop-soul: gospel-rich harmonies, elegant arrangements and songs that looked directly at the Britain around them. Fronted by Garry Christian, whose deep, burnished voice remains the band's centre of gravity, they bring that catalogue to Boisdale for a night of soulful British songwriting with real bite.
Their 1987 debut album The Christians reached No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart and produced a remarkable run of UK Top 40 singles including "Forgotten Town", "Hooverville", "When the Fingers Point", "Ideal World" and "Born Again". The band's version of "Harvest for the World" reached the UK Top 10 in 1988, with proceeds going to charity, and remains one of their most loved recordings.
Expect a set shaped by that rich late-80s sound: socially conscious lyrics, smooth soul phrasing and choruses that still land with quiet force. From "Ideal World" and "Forgotten Town" to "Harvest for the World", "Hooverville" and "Born Again", this is music with melody on the surface and steel underneath.
Decades on, The Christians remain a distinctive voice in British soul-pop, still touring with Garry Christian at the helm and a catalogue that has aged far better than much of the era around it. Their songs do not just trade in nostalgia. They still ask questions, still carry weight and still sound built for a room that listens.
The venue features a refined restaurant, four exclusive private dining rooms, the distinguished Hine Bar, an extensive whisky and wine selection, a sophisticated Cigar Lounge and an inviting Heated Garden Terrace - making it a haven for discerning patrons seeking the finest in dining, music and atmosphere. On weekends, the vibrant first-floor bar and terrace come to life with DJ Nights, adding another dimension to the Boisdale experience.
