'A singing superstar in the making' Jazzwise on Marvin Muoneké'

A wonderful night's live music paying tribute to one of the greats'  Arcana.FM

'It's hard to think of a better way to experience the magic of Ellington.' Jazzwise

The Pocket Ellington achieves the seemingly impossible - capturing the lush, swinging power of Ellington's orchestra with the agility and intimacy of an 8-piece ensemble.

With a frontline of world-class horn players, this band delivers a sound far bigger than its size suggests. Anchored by the impeccable time of veteran bassist Dave Green and the unstoppable drive of drummer Winston Clifford, the swing is guaranteed.

Adding an extra touch of magic is special guest vocalist Marvin Muoneké - one of the most remarkable new voices in British jazz. With a sumptuous, velvety baritone that recalls the timeless warmth of Nat King Cole and Billy Eckstine, Marvin brings both authenticity and soul to every performance.

Expect a sparkling journey through Ellington's greatest works from the 1930s, '40s and '50s, including Main StemRain CheckCotton TailChelsea BridgeSuch Sweet Thunder. The repertoire also nods to the giants shaped by Ellington's legacy, featuring pieces by Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, and Gil Evans.

The result is a big, buoyant, irresistibly swinging sound from a brilliantly crafted pocket band.
