Way Upstream
The Courtyard Theatre, London.
Way Upstream by Alan Ayckbourn is a dark comedy set on a river cruise. Two mis matched couples, arrogant, bossy Keith and endlessly complaining June go on holiday with mild mannered Alistair and sweet, sensible Emma. It is a disaster waiting to happen and things escalate when their boat runs aground and they are rescued by the mysterious Vince. Against a background of industrial unrest and political uncertainty, life on the river surges out of control in this hilarious, fast paced comedy performed by Court Theatre Training Company's final year undergraduate students.
