Tickets for events at Apollo Victoria, London
Venue Information
The Apollo Victoria Theatre is one of London’s most striking and historic entertainment venues. Originally opened in 1930 as the New Victoria Cinema, it was designed by architects Ernest Wamsley Lewis and William Edward Trent. Its dramatic Art Deco architecture features twin façades and a vast interior inspired by an underwater fantasy, complete with scallop-shell motifs, crystal-like lighting, and curved chrome finishes. Once nicknamed “Sing Sing” by cab drivers for its fortress-like exterior, the theatre is now a Grade II listed building and seats over 2,300 guests.
Over the decades, the Apollo Victoria has hosted an impressive array of shows and artists. From classic musicals like The Sound of Music and Fiddler on the Roof, to pop concerts and, perhaps most notably, the ground-breaking Starlight Express, which ran for 18 years with a custom-built race track weaving through the auditorium. In 2006, the theatre became home to Wicked, one of the West End’s most popular and longest-running productions.
It once served as a rehearsal space for Led Zeppelin, was one of the first venues to trial live TV broadcast in 1939, and is rumoured to be haunted. It was also the first auditorium in London to be fully lit with LEDs - a nod to its ongoing legacy of theatrical innovation.
