Venue Information

The Eventim Apollo - formerly known as the Hammersmith Apollo - is one of London’s most iconic live entertainment venues. Situated in Hammersmith, West London, it stands as one of the UK’s largest and finest surviving original theatres.

Designed by Robert Cromie in striking Art Deco style, the venue first opened its doors in 1932 as the Gaumont Palace Cinema. It was later renamed the Hammersmith Odeon in 1962 and received Grade II listed status in 1990. A standout historic feature is the fully restored Compton organ from the 1930s, still housed within the building today. Over the years, the Eventim Apollo has also become a firm favourite for large-scale live comedy.

Its musical legacy is legendary. Highlights include 38 performances by The Beatles between 1964 and 1965, David Bowie’s final show as Ziggy Stardust in 1973, and multiple concerts by Queen during the late 1970s. The venue has also featured in music DVDs by Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue and Kings Of Leon.

Beyond music, the Eventim Apollo hosts an impressive programme of comedy, dance and family entertainment. Past and present performers include Kevin Bridges, Dave Chappelle, as well as major productions such as Shrek The Musical and Riverdance. The venue is also famously associated with the BBC stand-up series Live at the Apollo.

With a mixed seated and standing capacity of over 3,500 - or up to 5,000 standing - the Eventim Apollo remains one of London’s truly legendary venues. Eventim is the official ticket retailer for all events held here.

The Eventim Apollo box office opens from 4pm on performance days and is closed on non-performance days. Please note that all box office transactions are subject to a booking fee. For seating plans, accessibility details, contact information and venue policies, visitors should refer to the Eventim Apollo’s official website.
